Johnson is a demonstration school for writing and reading. Teachers from all over the district come to observe our teachers during reader's and writer's workshops. Our teachers keep current on the latest research. We look at student work, discussing instructional strategies and materials to support students' learning. As a school, we examine our instructional materials, making certain they support the standards through the grade levels Collecting individual data from each classroom teacher, we determine which students are in need of extra help, either during school or in the extended day program. As a school, it is important to acknowledge the achievements of our Million Word readers at various celebrations throughout the year. As Literacy Coach, I support and coordinate these many of these efforts and events.
